Pennsylvania based Clover Farms is the largest privately-owned dairy company in the state. We partner with over 170 local dairy farms to provide top-quality dairy products for families across the region.

Providing healthy and fresh dairy products throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, NYC, Long Island, Maryland, and Delaware is our daily goal, and we meet it through collaboration with dairy farms and the efforts of our 300 employees to process and deliver more than 3 million pounds of milk daily. We’ve come a long way from the initial days in 1937 when we delivered 300 quarts via 8 employees.

The Importance of Dairy Farms to the Supply Chain

Dairy Farms in Pennsylvania

Clover Farms could not bring our quality milk products to families in the region without the assistance of local dairy farms. Within the United States, only 2% of dairy farms are not family-owned businesses, and the continuation of the time-honored family farm tradition is critical to the economy and dairy supply chain.

Dairy farms are the main component of a large network. Collaboration with local vets, milk processors like Clover Farms, and even bankers and drivers creates numerous jobs and economic vitality within the region.

The Importance of Dairy Farms to the History of Pennsylvania

The history of America itself is marked by the presence of dairy. The initial Jamestown colonists brought cattle along with them from Europe, introducing dairy products to the New World.

William Penn founded the Colony of Pennsylvania in 1681, and the climate, soil, and hard-working colonists embraced agricultural endeavors. This extended to dairy production, with Clover Farms becoming a participant in the dairy industry as early as 1937.

While we initially delivered our milk door to door, by the late 1980s the milkman was a thing of the past, and our milk was solely available in grocery stores. Pennsylvania is a significant producer of milk, being second in the nation for the number of dairy farms. Over 99% of these farms are family-owned, a testament to the importance of tradition and passion to the industry.

The Importance of Dairy to a Healthy Body

Milk provides a plethora of essential nutrients for the human body. It’s an excellent source of calcium; vitamins A, D, and B12; riboflavin; niacin, pantothenic acid, potassium, and phosphorous.

Additionally, milk contains protein at a ratio of 8:1 when compared to almond milk. Milk has one gram of protein per ounce, while you would have to drink an entire 8 oz. glass of almond milk to consume the same amount of protein.

Known to be vital to bone health, milk also reduces the likelihood of developing osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and Type-2 diabetes when included as part of a healthy, nutritional diet.

Clover Farms distributes cold, local, and maximally fresh Vitamin D/Whole Milk, 2% Jog Milk (Reduced Fat), 1% Trim Milk (Low Fat), Skim/Slim Milk (Nonfat), Chocolate Milk, Eggnog, Coffee creamers, Half and half, Light Cream, and Heavy Cream.
