Company Driver or Owner-Operator?

To earn a paycheck without investing your own money in a rig, driving for a specific company like Clover Farms can be a great option. While you may have less freedom and make less money overall than an owner-operator, there are several advantages to making company driving a long-term career.

Responsibility: Owner-operators have a lot of responsibility. This includes working to find loads, negotiating contracts, maintenance, and management tasks. Company drivers are given loads to haul, and their main job is driving. You will be free to switch companies or to change careers at any time.

Training: Both company drivers and owner-operators have to undergo training to acquire their CDL, but owner-operators also have to learn how to book jobs ang how to deal with customers, as well as the ins and outs of trucking laws and regulations. Some companies, such as Clover Farms, allow you to earn money while you learn.

Expenses: Owner-operators have to pay for the truck itself, truck maintenance, repairs, upgrades, insurance, and anything else involved with operating the truck. As a company driver, you only have to drive. You are not responsible for fixing or upgrading the truck or providing insurance.
