Job Description/Responsibilities
The federal government requires a commercial driver’s license, or CDL, for truck drivers and those who operate other commercial vehicles for a living, such as straight trucks or buses. As a commercial driver, you have a tremendous responsibility every time you sit behind the wheel, to deliver your cargo on time, while keeping the roads safe for everyone. Driving a commercial vehicle takes a higher level of skill than driving a regular consumer car, truck or van.
A Class A CDL entitles you to operate most vehicles with a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more and to haul a trailer that weighs 10,000 pounds or more. A Class B CDL permits you to drive a single vehicle weighing 26,001 pounds or more without a trailer or to operate any vehicle towing a trailer that weighs less than 10,000 pounds.
Tank pickup at Clover Farms is standard procedure. Our local family-owned dairy farm partners deposit fresh milk immediately into refrigerated stainless steel tanks. The milk is then transferred into similar refrigerated tanks on Clover Farms milk transport trucks and delivered into refrigerated holding tanks at the dairy, where it is processed immediately. Swift handling assures the freshest of dairy products for customers.
We understand the importance of work-life balance, and know that long days spent on the road can be tough on drivers, physically and mentally. Consequently, all of our Class A and Class B driver jobs allow all drivers to be home every night.
The Clover Farms Class A driver must have, or be able to obtain, a tanker endorsement on his or her license so that he or she can operate a heavy (over 26,001 lbs) insulated tank-type straight truck for pick up, transportation, and delivery of bulk milk between farms, dairy, and other designated commercial locations. No experience is necessary.
Requirements include:
- Must be 21 years of age*;
- A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR);
- Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and physical capabilities test;
- Compliance with all personal appearance standards;
- Must pass a Clover Farms road test.
*Applicants who are under 21 are encouraged to apply because Clover Farms provides training.
