We’re committed to delivering fresh, quality milk, dairy products, fruit juices and drinks, prepared teas, and bottled water. Commercial Driver’s License Classes

Driving a truck commercially involves different classes and endorsements. Having the right licensure and endorsements for the job you’re seeking is important, so knowing the ins and outs of the different classes can help you plan for your future career.

Class A License

With a Class A CDL, a driver can operate a tractor-trailer that weighs more than 26,000 pounds. The trailer can weigh over 10,000 pounds, but drivers will need special endorsements to haul cargo that’s hazardous, to haul double and triple trailers, or to meet other restrictions. With a Class A CDL, you can be licensed to operate the following rigs:

  • 18-wheeled tractor-trailers
  • Truck and trailer combinations
  • Tractor-trailer buses
  • Tankers
  • Livestock haulers
  • Flatbeds
  • Box trucks
  • Dump trucks
  • Straight trucks
  • Passenger vans

A Class A trucking license provides an opportunity for drivers to make more money, and the more endorsements, experience, and willingness to travel are key to success in the industry.

Class B License

With a Class B CDL, drivers can operate vehicles that weigh more than 26,000 pounds that aren’t pulling trailers. In addition, drivers with a Class B license are entitled to pull trailers that are less than 10,000 pounds. The following vehicles can be operated legally with a Class B license:

  • Straight trucks
  • Box trucks
  • Large buses
  • Segmented buses
  • Smaller dump trucks

If a driver wants to stay close to home or limit their employment to delivery type jobs, a Class B CDL is really all that’s necessary. This license is also great when truck driving is a temporary occupation.
