Looking to add a sweet, delicious beverage to your product offerings? Clover Farms can help. For many of our customers, our private label lemonade and pink lemonade represent some of their best-selling products!
Clover Farms, based in Reading, PA, was established in the rich, rolling hills of Pennsylvania Dutch dairy country in 1937. Today, we are the largest privately owned dairy company in PA and produce milk, iced tea, fruit juices, fruit drinks, and other dairy products, such as eggnog and heavy cream. We have a tradition of quality, freshness and flavor that is embodied in each and every refreshment that bears our name.
Private Labeling
Private labeling refers to products manufactured by one company (e.g., Clover Farms milk, fruit drinks, Icy Teas or lemonade) for sale under another company’s private label/brand. In other words, you will put your label on our existing beverages.
In some cases, an exclusive formula can be created for you, or our current formula can be adjusted to suit your needs. Under a private label agreement, Clover Farms procures the ingredients and manufactures the product(s) while retaining ownership of the Icy Lemonade recipe.
With private labeling, clients have the opportunity to create an image for their brand. Whether bolstering an existing brand identity or creating a new one, private labeled products can be a phenomenal way for brands to increase margins and capture added revenue.
Why Lemonade?
Until the 1600s, lemons were considered a rare and expensive fruit. In about 1650, however, a recipe for simple lemonade (lemon juice, water, sugar) appeared in a French cookbook and a lemonade craze erupted in Paris, where vendors sold it from tanks strapped to their backs.
In the early 1800s, a method for mass-producing carbonated water was invented, and “fizzy” lemonade became the rage throughout Europe. In America, the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union pushed the beverage as an alternative to alcohol during Prohibition, inspiring Sunkist to use the slogan, “Good-bye to liquor, here’s to lemonade!” By the 19th century, ice was making cold drinks popular and sweet, cold lemonade became popular.
As for pink lemonade, the earliest mention was in an 1879 article in West Virginia’s Wheeling Register that linked it to the circus. Pink lemons do exist, but their juice is clear. The most plausible origin of the popular pink-hued beverage may be the story of Henry Allott, a Chicago native, who accidentally dropped red cinnamon candies into a vat of traditional lemonade while working at the circus and sold it anyway.
Clover Farms lemonades are refreshing thirst quenchers formulated from the highest-quality lemon ingredients and sugars. With our extensive experience and in-house manufacturing and packaging abilities, we can help ensure that your product stands out.
